Lionhunting at the royal castle.

To celebrate that the girls finally beat the flu we took a Saturday ride to the royal castle.

There we hunted lions, which was more tricky than you can imagine, the castle is full with lions in different shapes and forms...

We found 7 out of 10 lions but then we were so tired we needed something sweet... We finished our visit at the Royal café where we had coffee with the very suitable "Estelle cake":

Now we're looking forward to a healthy Mars - so long February!

Patience and thankfulness...

Lovisa is on her 6th day with high fever and Andréa on her 5th. This years flue is a though one what's for sure. It's hard to be patient and wait this mean virus out. As a parent you want to have a magical wand to circle over your children and remove all the bugs in the world. It's easy to forget that this is normal. Children get sick and they need to have infections to build up their immune system. I should really be grateful that they don't have a bacterial infection and are in need of antibiotics. I just read this article that I want to share with you, it twist things around and make you think the right thoughts regarding the whole process of being sick or having to stay home and nurse your sick children.

And even if it sucks to have feverish children it's also a bit cozy. Because when your sick you're allowed to nap in mums and dads bed. You can almost eat as much icecream you want and watch hours of TV without having a irritated parent shutting it off. And when you are a bit better you can play memory on the floor with your sister and your mum. And you can talk about all the nice things you're going to do once you get well, like playing in the park or having your favorite cousin over.

I'm also thankful. Thankful because my girls have a disease from which they will recuperate completely from, it will even make them stronger so they can fight future viruses and bugs. I just have to remind myself to be just that, patient and thankful. My work will still be there when I get back and I'm not irreplaceable. But there's no one that can replace me at home, my girls only have one mother and they really want me around when they're sick. Because in the end the most important thing of all is the family, that they and you are well.

When you find a zombie upstairs...

It was Sunday evening and I was feeling rather content with myself. I'd given the girls a long bath, scrubbed then from top to toe, washed their hair without any major catastrophe (just the usual resistance and water all over the bathroom and myself). I went downstairs to help H finish the supper while the girls played upstairs and as we were chatting in the kitchen it suddenly struck me how quite the girls were... It's these moments you wish you could relax and think "oh finally some peace and quite" but as most of you know it's these times you can almost be certain that your children are up to no good. This is what I found upstairs:

A three year old zombie created by her very artistic 5 year old sister. I almost finished my make-up-remover that evening...

Happy birthday mamma and mormor!

Today was a special day because my mother came all the way from Värmland and on top of this it is her 67th birthday!

The girls and I made a cake and the girls got to decide what kind, the choice was easy: a pink princess cake for our favorite girl - our mother and grandmother.

Happy birthday and thank you for helping me with the girls!

Here comes the sun...

The lovely sun together with the snow made this unusually wonderful February day to a marvelous one. It was so bright outside that the girls started to complain about having the sun in their eyes which made me almost scream "don't complain and enjoy it while it lasts" and realized we're so hungry for sun and light it's almost ridiculous...

Happy Friday!

For once I finished work early and on my way to the metro I bought the best "semlor" in Stockholm. Then I surprised the girls with an early pick-up and "fika". This is how every Friday should be...

Have a nice weekend everybody!

Sunday 1 February 2015

A Sunday in February.

Andréas first time ever on the ice with skates! Lovisas third time! It's so amazing to see how fast they learn. Andréa was a bit scared at first and wanted to hold on to something but after 1,5 hours she let go of my hand and skated around on her own.

Good thing H is secure on the ice, I feel more like Bambi, pretty soon the girls will be better than me I'm sure...

Look at me mum - I can skate!
